Soojoo Lim, soprano, is a native of Seoul, South Korea. She is currently a resident artist at Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Germany. She holds her Bachelor of Music degree from Santa Cecilia, Rome, Italy, and received her Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from Kahlsruhe Opernschule.
Her prizes include First Place from the International Francesco Paolo Tosti Singing Competition, the International Competition Giacomo Lauri Volpi and the International Competition Roero Musica in Italy. Ms. Lim won Second Place from the Kultur Baden Singing Competition and Third Place from the International Rocca delle Macie Singing Competition in Germany. She has also been a Grand Finalist in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Austria and won special prizes from the Francisco Vinas International Singing Competition in Spain and the Concours International Singing Competition d’Art Lyrique de Strasbourg in France.
She has performed in some of opera’s most demanding roles, including Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Mimi in La bohème, Melisande in Pelléas et Mélisande, Despina in Così fan tutte and Ninetta in Die Liebe zu den 3 Orangen. Recently she sang successfully as Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi with Staatstheater Braunschweig.
