Emi Nakajima, a native Philadelphian, made her solo debut at the age of 11 with The Philadelphia Orchestra and appeared with the orchestra again in 1994. She has played numerous solo and chamber music recitals in such venues as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Academy of Music and Curtis Hall in Philadelphia, and concerto appearances with the Haddonfield Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, the Rutgers University Orchestra, and the Academy Chamber Society. She was a prizewinner in the William Kapell International Piano Competition. She has been a regular participant of the Sarasota Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival, International Keyboard Institute Festival in New York, Wilhelm Kempff Beethoven Master Course & Internazionale Di Musica Di Cagliari in Italy, Herford Summer Academy & Euro Music Festival in Germany. Dr. Nakajima received a Bachelor of Music from The Curtis Institute of Music, a Master of Music from the Yale School of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Rutgers University. She studied with Eleanor Sokoloff, Claude Frank and Susan Starr. Currently, she is pursuing post-doctoral work with Fabio Bidini in Berlin, Germany. Her performances have been broadcast on WRTI (90.1 FM) Radio, Philadelphia and WQXR (96.3) Radio, New York.
