SINGERS 2009
Ani Maldjian, soprano, began her 2008-2009 season at Festival Opera as Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by her Atlanta Opera debut in La Cenerentola, opposite Jennifer Larmore. She then returned to Long Beach Opera for a third season as the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen and in the spring made her debut at Opera Santa Barbara as Valencienne in The Merry Widow. In the 2007-2008 season, Maldjian made her debut with Seattle Opera, her International Debut at the Megaron in Greece, premiered the Armenian opera, Zemire, in the title role at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, performed with Sun Valley Opera and revived the title role in Long Beach Opera’s The Diary of Anne Frank, which received critical acclaim in Southern California. She has performed over 25 roles from operas including Falstaff, Gianni Schicchi, Così fan tutte, Julius Caesar, and Die Fledermaus. In addition to earning a BFA from Cal Arts and a Masters degree from CSUN, she received additional opera training as a resident of Seattle Opera, San Francisco Opera, Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival, and OperaWorks. She won 1st Place at the Western Region Metropolitan Opera Auditions in 2005 and sang on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in 2006.
